Depending upon which view you choose, the first scan will show horizontal lines and/or cross hatching marks. Rest assured, these are not on the card itself. Usually scanning problems are confined to color pictures but today it's "advanced" to black and white! (You will note that the second scan (reverse side of the card) exhibits none of these problems.) 1977 WASSCA Convention Superstars | Autographed in Black Sharpie at the top of the card; the blue autograph is his facsimile autograph printed mechanically AUTOGRAPH: JOHNNY MIZE [1913-1993] , New York Giants (1942 & 1946-1949), St. Louis Cardinals (1936-41) & New York Yankees (1949-53) sponsored by Shakey's Pizza for the Washington State Sports Collectors Association Convention in 1977 *WASSCA (Washington State Sports Collectors Association) first distributed this card at WASSCA's 1977 sports collectors convention. Three players (Earl Averill, Johnny Mize and "Indian Bob" Johnson) comprise a full set of the players while a fourth card (consisting of a collage of sports collectibles) advertised WASSCA to prospective members. Earl Averill (1975 Hall of Fame), Johnny Mize (HOF 1981) and Bob Johnson (yet-future (hopefully) Hall of Famer) were show guests at the 1977 WASSCA show. To reiterate: This card was published with "John Mize" facsimile signature printed in blue on the card. Johnny was a guest at the 1977 WSSCA convention and signed his name (Johnny Mize) in black ink at the top of the card. From 1975 to 1977, Seattle-area Shakey's Pizza restaurants underwrote the production and redemption of more than 200 baseball cards. Originally, 2,000 prints of each card were produced but due to an accounting error (as well as normal attrition) it is estimated that fewer than 1,000 of each these red border cards survive today. This card features a red, white and blue color scheme (front side) with black and white photograph. Photographs were provided by Chicago area photo seller, the late Jim Rowe, and contain a number of great images originally shot by George Burke, George Brace and others. The back is red and black ink on white, features brief word snapshots and seasonal best statistics. Shakey's logo and a list of the 5 Seattle-area locations complete the reverse.
