Description: This spoon artifact was salvaged from the Nuestra Señora De La Luz shipwreck. The ship sank in 1742 off the coast of Montevideo, Uruguay during a storm while anchored in the Rio de la Plata. is an authentic piece with a certificate of authenticity from the daughter of Ruben Collado Amatriain, the man who discovered the wreck. The artifact has also been certified and authenticated by Timeline Auctions. It is a valuable collectible for those interested in Spanish shipwreck history. The spoon is fully intact and I cleaned as the day it was found, with coral encrustation seen throughout the piece. Very cool artifact to hold and think about who used it in the days and nights leading up to its ill fated demise. The spoon was part of a collection of utensils found from this wreck and was displayed in the museum of shipwreck treasure, "Museo de Los Naufragios y Tesoros" in Punta del Este, Uruguay during 2003-2004. It was then on display in Colonia del Sacramento until 2015. It is one of only five spoons from this collection from the La Luz shipwreck. Salvaged by Ruben Collado Amatriain and is accompanied by the original signed certificate declaration as seen in the photos. Please message me for any questions.
