Description: In Stock and Ready for Immediate Shipment!Long SOLD OUT at the Perth Mint! Celebrate the energetic, intrepid and dynamic Year of the Horse with this large, low mintage, one ounce pure silver dollar! This large, impressive coin represents a tremendous value, struck in pure silver! The Perth Mint's Lunar Zodiac Series II coins are huge! At more than 45 mm in diameter, they are nearly 2 inches across! This beauty is made all the more desirable by the Mint's execution of this intriguing animal motif in pure silver, artistically rendered in full proof finish! The fields are deeply mirrored, with the design accented in frosty white cameo relief, further enhancing an already handsome design (which is even nicer looking than the mint-supplied images suggest). Between the large size, the low mintage (only 5,000!), and the beauty of the design and proof finish, we think you'll be impressed with this affordable, pure silver dollar! The Year of the Horse - Intrepid and Energetic! Centuries ago, the Chinese invented a calendar based on the lunar (rather than the solar) cycle. There are twelve animals in the Chinese lunar zodiac, each corresponding in sequence to a year rather than a month. In 2014 we celebrate the Year of the Horse. According to tradition, people born during a Year of the Horse (1906, 1918, 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, and 2014) are said to exhibit that animal’s attributes. Horse people are active and energetic. They have plenty of charisma and know appeal to others (especially others of the opposite sex). Horses are joiners who love to be part of the group, meaning that is why they can usually be seen at such occasions like concerts, theaters, meetings, sporting events, and of course, parties. People born during the Year of the Horse have a pleasant, amiable, easy going disposition which guarantees popularity and a large following of friends. Blessed with good humor and geniality, they are extremely easy to get along with, for they have the knack of instantly putting people at their ease. The Horse is very quick-witted and insightful. S/he is right in there with you before you have even had the chance to finish what you are saying: s/he's on the thought in your mind even before you've expressed it! The Horse can be hot-blooded, hot-headed and impatient. The Horse is a worker, adepts at handling money and a good financier. But unfortunately, s/he is also famous for suddenly losing interest in a project. Those born a Horse have many contradictions in character. Horses are proud yet sweet-natured, arrogant yet oddly modest in their approach to love, envious but tolerant, conceited yet humble. They want to belong, yet they are burdened by their need for independence. They need love and crave intimacy yet often feel cornered or pressured. But the truth is, the Horse is an individual, who depends only on its wits and his labor to get what it wants! This is the seventh annual release in the Lunar Zodiac Series II from Australia! Obverse A pair of horses enjoy the good life in a landscape in rural China. One drinks from a running stream while the other keeps a look out. The legend YEAR OF THE HORSE defines the theme. The Chinese character for "Horse" is to the above, while the Perth Mint's "P" mint mark is judiciously placed to the right, near the 3:00 position along the rim. Reverse The reverse features Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, in crowned profile facing right. This portrait, featuring Her Majesty wearing a tiara and pearl earrings, was executed by the sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley. The legend 1 OZ 999 SILVER guarantees the weight and purity. The legend ELIZABETH II, the date and the denomination also appear. Packaging The coin is encapsulated inside an elegant, red and black presentation case lined with black velvet & satin and protected by a full color outer box. An individually-numbered certificate of authenticity is included.
