Description: GENERAL DESCRIPTION:I recently purchased a used bookstore and an adjoining 1820s house in USNY. The previous owner is 98 years old and left numerous belongings behind for his transition to long-term care. These were found in the house's attic near rolls of leather. He used leather for book binding purposes, so presumably these were used for that. ITEM SPECIFIC DESCRIPTION:From tip to end of handle measures 14.25"Obvious signs of surface rust and minor pitting. I noticed most other recent sales people clean these up, but the "don't clean it up" credo stopped me from doing so. Older example of Heinisch shears appear to have a flat top to the brass hinge cap, and I also saw many with the strange angled wear on the cap and edge. Number "9" stamped near one of the handles, but on the blade" hidden when shears / scissors are closed. Many recent sales / examples have "Patent 1859" on the brass. This does not. SHIPPING:Shears will be thoroughly wrapped in foam blanketing and further padded inside rigid cardboard boxes with all seams sealed with packing tape. Items will be shipped via USPS Ground Advantage.
