Description: These are original prints from the Art Institute of Chicago featuring a special winter exhibition on December 19, 1931. The catalog includes 33 photos made from negatives made during exhibit which displayed 44 paintings. The Bulletin is included also which includes a description of the "Bonader" or Peasant Wall Hangings of Sweden that were were featured in the exhibition. The photo plates measure 8 inches in height and 10 inches in length, and are in their original state without any modifications. Two are stamped and labeled on the reverse side with the identification of the original negative numbers. Another are stamped with the a place to identify the negatives but are not written on. An additional 19 remain blank on the reverse side. These "bonader" decorated the walls and ceilings of peasant homes on festal occasions. "The painters, though unsophisticated, were real artists, possessed of unusual imagination, equipped with an amazing knowledge of the Scriptures, and endowed with sufficient ingenuity to clothe religious compositions with the dress of their patrons and to use contemporary Scandinavian surroundings for settings..."
