Description: We offer for your consideration this vintage 1920s Milkshake mixer. This magnificent, near antique, milkshake or malt mixer was manufactured by the Gilchrist Company (1902 to 1926) in Newark, New Jersey. The machine has a white porcelain enamel clad metal base with a chromed brass upright, and chromed steel motor casing.The mixer has a cool on off feature, it is triggered by installing the mixer beaker, which rocks the switch contacts forward, to contacts in the motor housing. It turns of automatically when the mixing beaker is removed.This mixer carries a patent date of Apr 17, Aug 21 1923.It is a well built piece of kitchen ware, it weighs in at approximately 9 pounds. It stands approximately 16 3/4 inches tall. the footprint is 6 inches wide by 8 inches deep.Built in America when we BUILT THINGS TO LAST. Condition- There is some wear of the chrome plate on the upright arm, near the base. There is some pitting of the chrome plating of the motor housing, and the mixer shaft. The cord is original and needs repair where it attaches to the head (see pictures). The 80.5 watt motor was in working condition prior to the cord separation and we will guarantee it operates. The cord wire connections do need to be resoldered and insulated properly The stainless steel mixing beaker pictured is included, it's an original OEM (Gilchrist Number 5M). The exact date of manufacture is unknown, but it is stamped near the base with patent date of Nov 16, 1926.
