Description: Antique VTG Meissen Porcelain Rothschild Style Male Female Bird Pair and Insects This is a very old piece of German porcelain - probably from the late 19th to the early 20th century. Of course Meissen is a very well known name in tableware! The image depicts two birds “finding” each other so it denotes relationships, harmony with nature. The Rothschild name is associated with this image as they bought many pieces from Herend (Hungarian) that have a similar motif, but with pearls draped from the branches in the image. It measures 9 3/4”. Weighs approximately 1 pound 4 ounces. It is a substantial piece. It has the very recognizable blue swords on the back that help to date the piece, and clearly identifies it as Meissen. This may have been a factory second as the blue swords have what looks to be 2 etched lines. I am not an expert so this is an “as is” piece. It is a thrill to have something that has been around for many, many years and appears to be desirable. No flea bites, no chips or cracks. Very minimal wear of the gold around the rim.
