The detail of the painting is stunning and is life like. The plain body of the vesta case is ornamented with an impressive arched hot enamel panel depicting a male King Charles Spaniel. This antique vesta case is fitted with a plain hinged cover to one end and a seamless non choke match striker on the base. The posterior surface and sides of this impressive Victorian silver vesta case is plain and unembellished. Such examples, made by the renowned silversmiths Sampson Mordan & Co, are rare to the market. Condition This Victorian portrait of a king Charles dog vesta case is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition. The enamel panel is in great condition, there is slight loss to the bottom and a tiny loss to the top as shown in the high resolution pictures. But the whole main picture of the dog is perfect. Full hallmarks struck to the side of the case and full hallmarks to the interior of the cover are all very clear.
