Description: One early Corbin doorknob H-42400 C:1875. In very good condition. Note that while listed as an H-42400 this knob differs from the photo in the catalog and it is possible that it's a variation of that knob or another knob entirely. The most notable differences are the center design is slightly different, there are more and smaller dots in the surrounding circle, and there are two rings around the center, not three. Solid cast iron knob with bronze band. Was under paint and was stripped to original surface and cleaned and the bronze band polished. I'm not sure what the original finish may have looked like on these. To me the finish is similar to the blackened Bower-Barff process. They may have had black enamel in the recessed areas with brass plating on the raised portion, all black enamel, or they may have been all brass plated. It was and is completely rust free and had no evidence of any finish when I got it. Note that at posting there were two available. If desired you can have choice, just compare the first set of photos to the second set and let me know at purchase. Always refer to the pictures they are an integral part of the description and best represent the product. If you need more pictures or a further definition, please email me BEFORE you purchase. Please remember that these are old pieces, many coming from homes 100+ years old so they will NEVER EVER be perfect and will always show some evidence of natural wear.T-208
