Description: This Antique Staffordshire Stoneware Blue & White Dessert Plate features a Tuscan pattern with a glossy finish. The plate is 6 1/2" in diameter and weighs 7 oz. The plate is was produced in the 1800-1849 time period using art pottery techniques. The central scene depicts two figures standing near a stone balustrade adorned with classial statuary. A tree on the right arches over the foreground grouping. In the middle distance an arched bridge crosses a body of water to a town with towers and a cathedral spire. In the far distance is a castle by the water. It has a printed backstamp and was manufactured by the brand M & S (not yet identified).
