This was the best of the best. Made for the rich and famous, every aspect was an indulgence. The original cost would have been about two years wages for the average workingman. The outrageously flared bombe cabinet, made for Sonora by the Herzog Art Furniture Company, is bulged on all four sides. The finish is not only original, but better than excellent, almost mint. The hand-carved grille is perfect and undamaged. The phonograph motor was custom-made for Sonora by Paillard of Switzerland to the highest specifications and is virtually silent-running. Sonora even had it gold-plated, even though it is hidden out of sight. This motor is considered by most to be the very best phonograph motor ever produced, anywhere. The ornately carved wooden tone arm features interchangeable reproducers for playing both standard records and Pathe disks. We have had the reproducers rebuilt to the highest standards. There is a volume/tone control knob on the left side. The 12" turntable has an automatic braking apparatus, to stop it from turning at the end of a record. There is a spring-strength meter, which allows the user to judge how many records are left to be played on the spring winding. The original Sonora record albums are present, all in fine condition, with some Sonora records as well. BONUS: We will supply a tin of needles and a 78-rpm record together with your purchase.
