Description: Antique religious icon of Jesus hand painted on wood with a silver plated metal overlay that has an extensive exquisitely wrought raised decor. A radiating brass halo surrounds the head of Jesus. The initials “JHC” are inscribed near the upper left corner of the silver plated metal overlay and the initials “XPC” are inscribed near the upper right corner of the silver plated metal overlay, both of which are abbreviations of sacred names for Christ. The edges of the silver plated overlay are nailed to the wood. The back and sides of the wood are covered in a worn and faded beige fabric. The icon is approximately 10½” wide, approximately 12¼” high (excluding the height of the brass halo) and approximately 1” thick (excluding the depth of the halo). Measured from the top of the halo to the bottom of the icon, the icon is approximately 13 1/16” high and measured from the back of the icon to the rim of the brass halo, the icon is approximately 2½” deep. The icon shows a modest amount of age related wear. A receiving signature will be required upon delivery.
