Description: Antique Paper Mache SNUFF BOX, Inlaid Abalone Shell Decoration, Lined Click images to enlarge Description ANTIQUE SNUFF BOX Lovely antique oblong paper mache lacquer snuff box measuring 3-1/2" wide by 2" deep. Featuring rounded edges, hinged lid has a simple lift front (a bit difficult to open), and top is accented with inlaid iridescent Abalone shell fragments in a diamond design with fleur-de-lis on the corners - you can faintly see inlaid silver wire trimming the design and along the top edge of the lid - interior is lined in a foiled paper. Dating 1870s or so, it is probably from the Edwardian era - condition is good with usage wear including the loss of one tiny shell piece and craquelure on the lid. Inlay has a lovely opalescence and snuff box is a handsome piece - nice addition to any snuff box collection or display! If questions, please contact me - thanks! Pictures sell!
