A pupil of Giacinto Brandi, he worked mainly in Italy and bought a house in Tivoli, which earned him the famous nickname. Troviamo in primo primo piano delle meravigliose pecore e una capra accanto al cane da pastore mentre scorgiamo in lontananza il mandriano con il resto del gregge. Dipinto attribuibile al pittore tedesco Philipp Peter Roos detto Rosa da Tivoli (1657-1706), mancante di autentica. Allievo di Giacinto Brandi lavorò prevalentemente in italia e acquistò una casa a Tivoli, il che gli valse il famoso nomignolo. Allevava molti animali e poi li dipingeva nella campagna romana, con pennellate intense, a volte quasi grossolane e con un forte contrasto tra luci e ombre. Cornice del XX secolo in legno scolpito, laccato e dorato, con alcuni segni del tempo. Opera già restaurata con rintelo, sostituzione del telaio e ripresa del colore in piccoli punti.
