Description: The item for sale is a pair of antique police uniform buttons that were probably in use during the late nineteenth to early twentieth centuries. The buttons have the letter "P" on them so they could be used for any local police department. The buttons were plated with brass or gold. The larger is 15/16" in diameter and was made at Scovill Mfg in Waterbury, CT. The small has "Extra Quality" inscribed on the back and is 9/16" in diameter. The buttons show some wear from being worn on a uniform at some time. The larger button has a slightly bent shank. The brass or gilt plating is worn down to the underlying bronze on the raised areas.
