It is in excellent vintage condition. The painting is well done, vibrant and in excellent vintage condition. It is an original portrait, completely hand painted on porcelain. The subject of the portrait is Madame Reclaimer, aka: Jeanne Francoise, Julie Adelaide, or Juliette, Recamier. She lived from December 3, 1777 to May 11, 1849. She was a married, influential French Socialite with a strong following, who was well-known in Europe for entertaining influential literary and political figures at her Salon in Paris. see Wikipedia. French Salonnieres were social meeting places for gatherings persons in politics and literature before the French Revolution. Portrait entirely hand painted on porcelain, it is after a famous portrait of Mme Recamier by Francoise Gerard 1805. Her influences in Pre-Revolutionary France earned her a place in history. Her portraits are sought after today by collectors, historians and Francophiles. It measures approx. 2 1/4" x 2", weigh approx. 28.4 g. see photos. It has a heavy ornate carved golden aged brass mounting. Brooch closes with a C clasp. It has been gently cleaned and hand polished and ready wear, add to your collection or be gift wrapped.
