Description: For sale is a very early figure made by Frankenthal in about 1756. He is one of the cherub in disguise pieces and is supposed to be a religous person like an Abbot. A very nicely modeled figurine of a cherub standing on a typical base for this maker and period highlighted with some puce and gold trim. The cherub is wearing a little cap like a yarmulke on top of his head, has those two odd pieces of cloth around his neck which along with the black robe and is wearing a muff. A very nice figurine! The piece is in good condition but alas has lost his wings which is pretty common on these pieces that are over 250 year old now. One of the gold scrolls on the front base is a bit rough but it looks like it is original to the piece. One small chip to the robe in the back as shown. The figure is 4.125 inches tall, 1.75 inches wide and 1.5 inches deep.
