Description: This lovely coffee pot is an antique Manning Bowman & Co. It is marked on the bottom with the maker's name "Manning Bowman &Co" as well as the numeral 6. It will hold 6 cups of liquid easily, and if filled to the top, it will hold 10 cups; but I think it is really designed for 6 to maybe 8 cups (if you put 10 cups in, it covers the interior of the spout); I found that it is nicely balanced with less liquid inside. The hinged spout and hinged lid are fully functioning. The lid appears to be brass while the exterior is copper plated. The top of the spout is copper while there are pewter accents on the handle, spout, and rim. The rim and spout are beautifully decorated with raised decoration. The handle has a beautiful curvature as well as some detailed reliefs as well. If you look closely at the lid, there is a small raised pewter "dot" behind the finial (toward the handle), which cleverly is a "stop" for when the lid is open, the "dot" makes contact with the top of the handle. The interior is unlined / unplated and does show patinated signs of usage. I have not attempted to polish this beautiful coffee pot as some would prefer the aged patination and so I would prefer to leave that decision to the buyer. There are a few dings on the main pot, and the finial appears to have impressed into the lid causing the finial to be crooked. The spout also has a very subtle dent on one side. It measures approximately 11" tall and the base diameter is about 6.5". This graceful coffee pot certainly has held its own for being 100+ years old and will make a lovely addition to your home.
