Description: ANTIQUE LITTLE WOMEN BOOK - LOUISA M ALCOTT, ILLUSTRATED BY REISE LONETTE. My story... I am a rather splendid edition of Little Women by Louisa M. Alcott published by The Literary Guild of America around 1950. I contain full page coloured illustrations and many ink line illustrations painted and drawn by Reisie Lonette. They are copyrighted at the front dated 1950 in Roman numerals - MCML. I am quite a large book measuring H 20.3cm by W 13.5cm by D 4cm and I weigh g. I am in a very good plus vintage condition - my inside is excellent! Why buy me? I am probably one of the most pretty looking editions of Little Women ever created! Aren’t my light grey quarter bound floral cloth covers just delightful - peppermint cloth decorated with delicate bottle green sprigs dotted with pink and yellow petals! My spine is also beautifully embellished I’m in silver gilt in the most enchanting font! Open me up to plain cream endpapers clean and bright with no inscriptions. Next you see my simple title page with my title set next to the most fine, sweet rose design. The fine rose continues to be a theme throughout my book at all chapter headings - quaint! Next is my main title page with the first of many gorgeous ink line sketches. We find out overleaf that my font is Linotype Electra and very lovely it is too! Before my wonderful story begins you first pass a prolific list of chapter headings - there are many - and then begins part 1 on cream coloured pages in excellent condition. You will probably have noticed by now that my page edges are rough cut. The whole page coloured illustrations are printed on sharper, whiter more crisp paper and are stunning! There are only four coloured illustrations but they are all vibrant and evocative. You will find many more ink line illustrations within the text - my seller counted 29 but they may be more! They seem to be mostly of the characters and that makes a lot of sense with this story! I only wish we had more photographic allowance to show you more. As I am around 71 years old I will have some signs of age and use: Cloth covers: the spine cloth is more age toned and faded compared to the quarter bound cloth on the front and rear; the gilt on the titles is also slightly faded. Page edges: these really are in a lovely clean condition with only gentle age toning. Endpapers: some minor age toning present but really clean and unmarked generally. Reading pages: these are generally in excellent condition. The binding of this books is still super strong!
