Description: This is a beautiful Antique Large 9 3/4” Silver Ice Tongs, or for Salads. We know nothing about this, it was purchased from an estate (the Ashmund estate in Philadelphia) about 50 years ago, and was purchased as being Silver (we certainly hope it is, and not silver plate!). It is hallmarked….we tried to scan it several times to make it readable….but mark looks like the initials “D H”, and small mark (s) looks like an “S” in script. It is marked several times. Tongs are about 9 3/4” long, and weigh about 7.5 ounces on a postal scale. It has an initial “A” engraved on the little round cap on the screw holding tongs together). The condition is very good, needs a good cleaning. Not sure if the screw holding the tongs together is missing a “cap” on the screw end, or it may never have had one? We hope some specialist Expert will recognize the Hallmarks, and know exactly who made this, and how old it is, etc. If you have any interest, please feel free to make an offer!….all offers considered. Postage in USA is $10.00 Thanks very much for looking!
