Description: An antique pair of size 12 Whelpley's Clamp on Metal Ice Skates. Along with the lever latching device, there is also a screw device at the rear to adjust the length. The marking on the skates read: Whelpley's Long Reach PAT Apr 8 84 Feb 7 88. and Keene Mfg Co Keene NH. The Blades have written: No 6 Cast Steel Hardened.The skates are in good condition for their age. The lever and screw adjustments operate fine. Due to their age, there is some surface rust. I did not want to disturb the integrity of the aging process so I didn't mess with the surface rust. The leather straps are missing, but there is a piece of the, I assume, original leather strap included in this sale. See Pics.
