Antique JOHN GOULD 'Southern White Faced Flycatcher' BIRDS NEW GUINEA Lithograph

Description: ORIGINAL ANTIQUE JOHN GOULD 'POECILODRYAS ALBIFACIES, SHARPE (SOUTHERN WHITE FACED FLYCATCHER)' HAND COLORED LITHOGRAPH from 'BIRDS OF NEW GUINEA AND THE ADJACENT PAPUAN ISLANDS INCLUDING MANY NEW SPECIES RECENTLY DISCOVERED IN AUSTRALIA - 1875-1888' This is just a great original piece. I have purchased a few Gould original lithographs over the past few years but I generally dont buy them unless they are the rare and desirable ones. A great chance to pick up a few for your collection at a fraction of what they sell for in retail high end print shops. This is one of the more desirable prints done by Gould. Sheet measures 21 1/2 x 14 1/4 inches. Marked with title and all the publication information along the bottom margin. Original color is excellent. Image is really in outstanding condition. Very clean and fresh. Edges show some minor toning from age but nothing too bad. Right margin shows one small repaired tear that measures about 1 1/2 inches but is below and not into the image. Side margin shows original holes or minor tears from removing it from the original large folio binding. A few other minor handling creases, otherwise excellent condition. Print also comes with the original description about the print and bird. All in all a great example of this scarce and desirable Gould print. Unframed. Do your own research on this print. I have found one other example for sale on the internet for many times what I am asking. If you collect Gould bird prints, make sure you check my store for the others I am offering.
