Description: Just in time for Christmas is this lovely antique 4 footed white opalescent bowl/candy dish made by the Jefferson Glass Company ,Steubenville, OH. It was made circa 1905 which makes this piece well over 100 years old! The pattern is called "Fancy Fantails" by collectors of EAPG. The molten glass is pressed into the mold with a plunger and then removed. It is reheated in a "glory hole" which brings out the milky white opalescence and finished with bits of ruby/cranberry glass applied to the edge/rim. It was finished by hand by a skilled glass craftsman who used a special crimping tool to achieve the pie crust like edge. As you can see a lot of work went into the making of this piece. The bowl is in excellent condition, but there are the typical straw marks and some bits of dirt/grit from the mold. There is also some roughness on the design which happened when the glass was removed from the mold. This is NOT damage, but considered to be flaws in the manufacturing process and does not devalue the piece. Please look at all the pictures as they are part of the description. The perfect bowl for your Christmas Holiday candy! Shipping to Continental US only!
