Description: Antique HARPER'S WEEKLY Magazine Hand Colored Etching Great Boston Fire 1872 Frame measures 22-1/4'' x 17-3/4'' paper by sight is 14-1/2'' x 9-3/4'' Published in the November 30, 1872 edition of Harpers Weekly Titled "Boston-General view of the ruins, from the west side of Washington Street-The Old South Church and the 'Transcript' Building in the foreground" after foreground it reads"[See Page 934.]" but this has faded away Most versions of this Harpers Weekly image were black and white, this is a wonderful hand colored version and is in excellent condition for age, properly preserved and protected, and professionally framed under glass. The work was prepared to illustrate the Great Boston Fire of 1872 and issued 3 weeks after the tragic fire (November 7-8 1872). This is one of the first publications to illustrate the fire. Some very minor imperfections to the engraving, at the tail end of the title there is some fading after the word "foreground", the wood frame has a few minor scratches, glass in excellent condition.
