Description: Beautiful antique griddle with gate mark. Size 7, approximately 9" diameter. Handle style suggests circa ~1860s-1880s. Casting flaw in handle, please see pictures. Restored, no cracks. Slight wobble due to gate mark corrected with kraft sales tag placed at 7 o'clock. Beautiful piece with tons of character. Gate marks are relics of a previous, older method of casting cookware, often dating to pre-1900. It looks like a bump or "scar" on the bottom of the piece, and is where the piece was broken off from its mold during the casting process. Please refer to pictures as they are of the actual item. These cast iron pieces have been carefully restored by stripping them down to bare metal by natural means. No sand blasting, wire wheels, or any other such equipment is ever on any of my restorations, so as to respect the original craftsmanship and historical character of the iron's surface. As such, natural irregularities in the iron's surface will be present, which can include casting flaws, pitting, or utensil nicks. Please refer to pictures for details specific to each piece. Each piece of cookware is seasoned 3 times. Thanks for looking!
