Description: exceptional and genuine antique brass wall sconce. a very fine example of a c1910 Mission Art & Crafts Sconce Light with two special glass shades. this extraordinary fixture was purchased as antique in connecticut, 1969 at an architectural antique store. The brass sconce boasts a lovely and outstanding design.... and looks to be made of solid brass. originally a gas light fixture, this is an extraordinary, rare and fine example of the Mission Arts and Crafts period ...much sought after! this sconce comes with the two glass shades we purchased in 1970 from an architectural (to the trade) lighting company. the shades are clear glass on the outer side and frosted on the inside. high end shades. note: where the lights go, four individual pieces that surround the opening. the gas area in the center has three ..one side left open in order to light? also, the silver bulb holder is loose and we tried to show. it is wired and just needs to be pulled down. we are not electricials, we used this in our library and it looked fabulous and worked well. our home was featured on the cover of 'homes of eastern long island.' a large size at approx. 12 in. rewired by a lighting expert however, it may require updating. see our photos. this fixture has been safely stored and just unpacked. selling as found ...a rare treasure from america's past!
