Description: Offered for auction an "ANTIQUE FRENCH GOLD GILT BRONZE RELIEF FIGURAL SCENIC FOOTED JEWELRY / TRINKET BOX". This lovely jewelry box features (5) relief scenes, (4) highlighting an outdoor working farm family (possibly vineyard, wheat field etc.) and the lid displaying a male rider with (2) horses and in the background, houses, foliage and a tree. The bronze/brass relief images are very well crafted, however, the gold gilt finish is substantially worn off and there is no locking key, although there is a lock mechanism. The scenes are filled with realistic, purposeful activity and decorated with beaded trim on the edges. Dimensions: Width...5 3/8", Height closed...2 1/2", Depth...2 7/8" and weighs...1.57 Lbs. There are no cracks or scrapes to the metal surfaces and normal wear with aged patina. The hinge is strong and sturdy. The interior has very nice red velvet lining in good used condition, with normal wear. The underside has the center impressed stamp "St" and the corners have ink written numbers (4184) and scripted letters. I am not certain that the origin is French or the actual age, although, it is quite similar to another French jewelry box that previously sold on eBay. This box is clean, from a smoke-free environment and ready to use. It is offered "as is", with no return or refund.
