Description: Rare Insulted French Faience Handpainted Serving Platter and matching pieces c.1890s.The magnificent and very difficult to find unique antique French Platter which measures 21” long and the smaller platter is just under 10”. The larger Platter is an Extraordinarily unique one piece construction whereby the Platter is elevated, insulated and stabilized by the foot base (see photos 9,10 & 11). In addition, the handles are also uniquely constructed with and are hollowed to act as heat retention while they are simultaneously aesthetically beautiful (see photo 3 & 12).In addition the base is designed to distribute Heat and stabilize this unusually cool platter. The small platter is similar in design and decor. The larger bowl is ll.5” across the handles and the smaller is 8.5” with a Maker’s Mark like the larger platter. We found these pieces in a private sale near Nancy, France in Lorraine.Nicely marked and initialed by the decorator with all indications being made in Sarreguemines .It measures 21” long by 11” wide by 2.75” high at the Raised Handles and is in excellent antique/Vintage condition. It has no chips or cracks with very fine age related glaze crazing and original kiln marks. Please also note photo 9 above the plate stand base and below the bottom kiln mark you'll see a faint vertical line.It is not a crack or split and it is cosmetic while below the smooth glaze. Please note photos. It will be professionally packed and insured.
