Description: Very open to offers. Absolutely stunning impressionist unsigned antique oil on board portrait of a woman with necklace and her hair up looking over her bare shoulder. She is wrapped in what looks to be a bedsheet or linens or blanket. Gorgeous royal blue chinoiserie wallpaper behind her featuring dragons. In heavy carved gilt wood frame. Struggling to date this one but my guess is early 1900s based on fashion and sticker on back. Could be a little earlier. I assume American school. And that it was done for someone with wealth. The pose and location and dress are a little risque for the time and imply a bedroom scene. Sadly no signature. I removed the backing and found it's painted on a Devoe & Raynolds "Best" Academy Board (last image). Frame has a sticker from Woodward & Lothrop of Washington, D.C.. (photo 13). All this points to 1910's 1920's for dating. Found in New England. Size Frame 30in x 24 1/4in Sighted 24 1/4 x 18 1/4 PLEASE READ CONDITION NOTES: Needs cleaning. Old varnish has yellowed and can be seen throughout but noticeable on her face (photos 5 and 6 closeups). Paint rubbed off along edge where it touches frame. No noticeable chips or damage. One very small white spot of possible paint on her arm. Backing board looks like it may have mold and should be replaced. Paint chips all over frame. Frame may have been repainted in areas. Seems to be pulling apart in one corner. Color: This was photographed outdoors in shade. May appear darker or less vibrant in person. I did my best to match the colors but everyone's screen is different. Only thing I have done to it is cleaning off the frame with an antique wood cleaner and dusted the painting itself. Pulled off a fair bit of dust but it will look incredible once professionally cleaned if you choose to have that done. Ready to hang as it is though.
