Richard, Le Locle Switzerland Inlaid Hardwood Pocket Watch Box Attractive, nicely-made high quality shellac-finished hardwood box, small cartouche inlay in the center of the top. Once held a quality Swiss pendant-set pocket watch made by Ferdinand Richard, one of the more obscure of the many Richard watchmakers in the Le Locle region of Switzerland. Purple silk or satin lined box lid printed in gold color: FERD. RICHARD LOCLE Purple velvet lined box bottom with formed area with pendant notch to securely hold the pocket watch. Estimated pocket watch size 36-38 mm based on the diameter of the bottom of the formed depression. Dimensions: (approximate) · Width (side to side): 3-1/4” (8.3 cm) · Length (top to bottom): 4-1/8” (10.5 cm) · Height (thickness, front to back): 1-1/8” (2.9 cm) Weight: approx. 3.2 oz. (0.09 kg) (not packaged for shipping) Condition: Good to very good overall condition with original finish; no damage or repairs. Outside, light wear on the top and bottom surfaces consistent with the age and type of use. Scattered very small nicks and light scratches that may not show up in the photos. Bottom has the remains of the original price label and several scuffs. Inside, the purple silk has faded and the printing is faint but legible. The purple velvet watch holder is in good condition with the edges of the cardboard it’s mounted to showing wear. The latch or clasp to open and close the box is tricky to actuate.
