Description: For sale is an American late Federal or Empire period veneered wood casket form sewing box / pincushion, as is. The box is 5 1/4 inches long, 3 ¼ inches deep and stands 4 ¼ inches tall. It has tapered sides with a rosewood veneer, molded edges, and stands on four compressed turned feet. It has original red material applied to the base, and presumably its original fabric pincushion top. It has a small drawer with light stringing around the edge and a bone knob. There are no marks. Condition on the piece is fairly good. Once corner has some separation, and a piece of the stringing veneer is missing from the drawer front. The pincushion is in rough shape but mostly all there. A fine old antique sewing box.
