Description: Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a gorgeous early 19th Century English Sterling Silver teapot made during the George III period, c. 1816. This beautiful teapot has an oval shaped body with two raised horizontal bands around the center of the body with a gadroon upper edge. Pot stands on four elaborately decorated paw feet and has a nicely shaped spout and handle with applied finger hold. The lid's hinge is perfect and the lid opens and closes correctly/tightly. Lid has an oval ribbed finial that attaches with a screw through the top of the lid. This tea pot holds about four pints and is a nice size for use by an individual who still enjoys the finer things of life including afternoon tea. Measures 5 1/2" high (to top of finger hold on handle), 11 1/2" wide (from spout to handle) and 5 1/2" deep. Weighs 635 grams. Marked with English hallmarks for "London, Sterling", date code for 1816 and illegible maker's stamp although the first initial is an "S". Hallmarks are crisp (except for maker's stamp) and are located on lower body near handle. The tea pot is in excellent Estate condition with no dents or dings reflecting only minor wear as expected from age and normal use.
