Description: Joseph Rodgers & Sons Set of 4 Dinner Knives 1901-1910 Antique dinner knives from premier English cutler Joseph Rodgers & Sons. Large 10 inch knives with 6 inch steel blades. Handles appear to be bone or celluloid . Blades are stamped " E (Crown) R, Joseph Rodgers and Sons, Cutlers to His Majesty" with Rodgers star and cross emblem. The carbon steel blades are elegantly thin and strong and handles are hand-engraved with the initials "JE or TE" in Gothic script. Blades have a nice antique steel patina but would shine up nicely if you preferred. Steel cutlery was largely replaced by stainless by the 1920's.
