Description: On a personal note, I have owned this interesting bowl for years, fascinated by the iconography and the lovely shape which fits the joined hands so well. The subject appears to be the God, Garuda, drawn from the Hindu religion, a winged and beaked bird-like deity, somehow related to the Vishnu stories. It measures approx 6" wide x 4" H and weighs approx one pound, a thick walled vessel. The hand formed design is repousse', hammered outward, raised quite a way outward. The foot has become slightly convoluted, but no holes or cracks. Please study the images. I believe this is 19th C or early 20th C.
