Description: This is magnificent silvered bronze figure of Buddha in the meditative pose of ‘Dhyana Mudra’, a hand gesture and meditation practice that is said to help with concentration and balance. It is marked with a four-character Xuande (1399-1435) mark underneath but this was more than likely made between 1850-1900 as a tribute to earlier Ming Era designs. These little household Buddhas are so popular they are still being made today but in brass, not expensive silvered bronze like this antique gem. The figurine measures 3 3/8 inches tall by 2 1/2 inches wide and weighs a hefty 8.5 ounces. It is in very good condition for its age with oxidation in all crevices and some scratches to the underside.
