Description: This listing is for a vintage antique country store fixture. This is a counter top fixture that held a vertical roll of paper, and a cone of string atop the paper. I think these were often used on a butchers counter..... but could be used anywhere on a wrapping counter. These took less counter space because of the vertical placement of the paper roll. This is marked EDWARD LEGER & SON - Chicago". I think this became Curtis-Leger Company, makers of store display fixtures. This has a cast iron base, with brass shell covering. Base is 7" in outside diameter. Upright rod is steel or iron and is 3/8" in outside diameter. Top loop is brass and would have held loose end of string, and prevented cone of string from coming off top of rod. It has a total height of 28". This shows some age and use wear and needs cleaned, it is otherwise in good used condition. Please refer to "Condition" above and photographs for more information. This antique country store paper and string holder is absolutely old and authentic and sells with no reserve.
