Description: This is an undated, handwritten recommendation letter for a man named Lee A. Harris of Benton County, MS. He was a teacher and merchant who was "honest, upright and fair dealing..." He had friends in high places, apparently, as the letter is signed by the sheriff, court clerks, city marshal, county treasurer, doctors, county superintendent of education, etc. It has embossed stamps from Chancery Court. The paper has wear including tears, some along the crease lines; the bottom portion is likely to come off completely soon as it's barely hanging on.
