Description: This is a rare Battersea Bilston patch box inscribed “ A Present from the Iron Bridge” The Iron Bridge in Shropshire England was the first arch bridge made from cast iron. The bridge was opened in 1781 so the box must be sometime after that date. This box must be very rare as a Google search does not find another like it. It measures 1 5/8” x 1 3/8” x 7/8” tall. There are some hairline cracks and a blemish on the bottom corner, see the photos. It looks quite well for being about 200 years old. There is also some residue on the bottom from a sticker. The box is delicate, I’m afraid to scrub it. Track Page Views With Auctiva's FREE Counter
