Description: For your consideration is an antique four piece highly decorated Aesthetic Movement silver plated demitasse or tea set by Barbour Bros. of Hartford, CT. Created in the style of Persian or Turkish Revival, this stunning and difficult to find set is at least 140 years old, dating to the earliest days of the formation of Barbour Bros, in 1882. Exquisite stylized foliate etching enhances the body of each piece along with the sharp angular handles and decorative finials that are design elements inherent to the Victorian era's Aesthetic Movement. A couple of tiny nicks can be found along the top edge of the sugar bowl, and a slight rub mark from polishing can be seen on the lid of the tea pot, however, these imperfections are neither casually noticeable or distracting. Otherwise, the set in extraordinary condition with no dents, dings, significant plate loss, prior repairs, or other compromising imperfections found. The silver remains largely intact, is free of excessive scratching and wear, and polishes brightly to a clear and brilliant luster. The interiors are clean and in good repair and each piece is signed with the Barbour Bros. hallmark on the base.
