Description: On offer today is a wonderful life-sized Armand Marseille 351 baby doll from the 1930s/40s. He (for me he was a boy) came to me from England, but was made in Germany. It is hard to find this type of painted-bisque-head baby doll in the US, because the market here was taken over by wood-pulp composition dolls. Also these ceramic painted-bisque heads are comparatively fragile, so far fewer of these large dolls survived! ADVISORIES: Note he will ship with his head DETACHED. There is a wire at his cloth body's neck opening to secure it to his body, but please note it's very stiff and sharp wire, so if you're not a very "handy" person, you might like to get help with this. He has sleeping blue glass eyes. One of the plaster eye-supports in his head is a replacement (white plaster). The original eye rocker (pink plaster) came to me loose. I re-attached this with strong wood glue. His eyes function perfectly. His head will be gently stuffed with paper to support his eye mechanism in shipping. You'll need to remove the paper (carefully) before re-assembling him. Head detachment/re-attachment is a normal thing with these antique baby dolls. If one tries to ship them without these measures, the eye mechanism will break in shipping, and the doll's head can be broken by the eye mechanism weight! MARKS:A.M. 351/7Germany CONDITION:Good vintage/antique condition for one of these! No cracks to head.Completely original paint with minor dings here and there (mainly hidden by bonnet).Original hands with original paint - though the color is different from his head - this is typical of these dolls. Hand-knit woolen clothes were made in his era (circa 1930s, 1940s/WW2). These are all original except the bonnet and the diaper, which I added, but these are also of the era. Cardboard "dummy"/pacifier is a repro made by me to imitate the toy ones of the era. Pink cotton twill disc-jointed body has some soiling. Crier non-working.Clothes could use cleaning maybe, but as they are all handknit wool be careful not to shrink them!I would recommend hand-washing the clothes with a special wool cleaner, or dry-cleaning them. Bonnet is tied on with a string, since I did not have a long enough vintage ribbon. MEASUREMENTS:He's about 21" long. He'll be perfect for display with antique baby furniture... like a high chair, cradle, or pram. He'd be fun to dress in antique baby clothing. He's a big huggable baby... he has a wonderful realistic heft! CHILD SAFETY ADVISORY: I can sell vintage dolls and toys for adult collectible use only. Due to stringent safety laws, it's not legal for me to sell vintage toys and dolls as playthings for children of today. SHIPPING INFO:No In-Person Transactions/Pick-ups, sorry. Will be shipped USPS with tracking.*Please note ground shipping times are SLOWER than they used to be! I refund any shipping difference of $2 or more.I ship Monday through Friday. From non-smoking, pet and fragrance-free home. Thank you for looking!
