Description: An antique British Admiralty Navigation chart, showing the Eastern Coast of Sicily, specifically Port Augusta. The chart was built on data collected by Captain P. F. Shortland, Royal Navy, and the Officers of HMS HYDRA in 1867. All soundings are recorded in Fathoms. This chart was originally sold by the Hydrographic Office for the price of Two Shillings and Sixpence. The chart also details a number of topographical locations, as well as urban areas - in addition to useful navigation hints for mariners caught in heavy weather. The chart is in fantastic condition for its age, with strong colour and crisp edges. It is suitable for framing. Key InformationScale: 1/21,600 Date of Publication: 9th May 1868. Surveyor: Captain G.
