Description: Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Antique 1920s One of a Kind Handmade New England Style Lighthouse Observatory Seaside Dollhouse with Dolls and All Furniture and Accessories Here's a rather fabulous find- we can pretty much guarantee you won't see this again! This glorious house reminds us of the square lighthouses of New England- we don't know if it was made there or not, but it certainly has the flavor of a coastal town- look at that glass cupola on top! As if that's not enough, when it was made a century ago, it even had newfangled electricity, and would light up! All that's left of that are the old ceramic sockets and some wiring, but it would be fairly easy to have this shine brightly upon the ocean again! Made entirely of rather heavy wood, with glass windows and antique fancy iron house hardware supporting the porch, it looks like some enterprising fellow turned the contents of his wood shop to good use! The whole thing fits together like a jigsaw puzzle, and when the roof is on, it needs no nails to be nice and sturdy. The windows on each side open so you can easily reach inside the three rooms. The back room runs the length of the house, the room to the left has a stairway (and opening to the cupola) and the right side room has real marble flooring- the detail is pretty remarkable. There's carpeting on the stairs and other rooms, and even little latches on the doors. To access the cupola, the top roof lifts off. The man of the house (a retired sailor as you can see) and his wife can both bend and sit, and the house has a variety of furnishings for such a small space: there's a striped daybed (we love how it matches the sailor's trousers), a table with a lighthouse design, two chairs with red velvet seats, a souvenir wooden bench, two woven wicker chairs, two small tables with faux marble tops, lots of plants and potted greenery, a birdhouse, and quite a few nautical pictures, too! There's a long table with three ceramic whales (two have slight damage) and a darling tiny ceramic set of a boat and lighthouse, as well as a clock and tiny picture of a lobster- can't forget the lobsters! Please note: the shipping quoted is a guesstimate- and this is a heavy house, of heavy wood and glass- please be assured we will reimburse any overage once this is packed and weighed. Please check our other listings for more from our consigner's collection, as well as antique and vintage dolls! Kindly Take a Moment and Read This Before Bidding: Remember, you agree to these terms the moment you bid- even if you didn't read them! Marionettejilly is not a big ol' corporation. We are actually pretty nice folks, with an interest in antiques, fighting upstream against inflation and the economy just like everyone else. We sell mostly vintage and antique items, with wear and the ravages of time as to be expected. Do not expect our vintage items to be in new or like new condition- many of our items are fragile, played with, and many are over 100 years old. Many of our items have been in storage for years, so if you are allergic to dust, or sensitive to certain scents or smells, we do not recommend purchasing vintage items. In the rare event that there is a problem with an item, just sit back, take a deep breath, and tell us about it calmly. We have not set out to scam you: we try hard to be accurate with descriptions- but we're human, and might have missed something that’s important to you. Use your own good common sense, ask questions before an auction ends, and expect an item to have a unique patina and history all its own- with imperfections inherent in antique pieces! Our office hours are Monday to Friday, 10am to 5 pm, Eastern Standard Time. We cannot answer emails unless they come through the Ebay message system- this protects both parties. Please do not expect a response during evening or weekend hours- with any luck we are out doing something fun, far far away from the computer! We regret Marionettejilly no longer accepts returns We do not entertain requests for partial refunds for any reason whatsoever; please do not ask. We never end auctions early: this is unfair to other watchers and bidders. Our shipping represents not only postage but also time, gas, packing materials, and the Final Value Fee that Ebay charges to shipping. We do not barter about shipping once an item has ended. We ship most items anywhere in the world, and yes, we will combine shipping on multiple wins. Payment is due within 3 days of end of auction. ABOUT “ITEM NOT AS DESCRIBED” complaints and vintage items: when you purchase a vintage or antique item, it is never going to be in new or perfect condition, and cannot be expected to be so. We have seen an unfortunate, but increasingly common, tactic crop up: thin complaints, always accompanied by a request for a partial refund, saying that an item is 'not as described'. When buying something preowned, it's easy for a less than honest buyer to pick a flaw out of the air and attempt to secure a partial refund over imagined or exaggerated 'imperfections'. If someone is looking for a way to get money back, sure, one can always find something, anything at all, despite any seller's carefully written description. So if there is anyone out there who is even considering employing this tactic, please pass us by. And, as a final note to the patient people who have bothered to read everything so far: Sorry if we sound crabby. Sometimes people can be so petty and unreasonable it can break your heart. We've had a run of really awful experiences this season- let's hope it ends soon, before we lose the rest of our hair, our jolly perspective on life in general, and our much-needed sense of humor!!!
