Description: For sale is a nice little sauce boat dish made by Pennington of Liverpool in England in the 18th century . The piece is decorated with acanthus leaves in relief along the lower part of the body with a nice chinoiserie scene on either side in blue, a blue design to the inner edge, some simple molded bead detail to the outer edge and a biting snake type angular handle typical for this maker. The piece is in great condition with no chips or repairs but there are some firing flaws like tiny black dots and staining which does not take away from the piece and a stained split along the mold line in the center of the spout as shown. It displays very nicely! The sauce boat is not marked which is the norm! It is 4.25 inches tall including the handle, 5.875 inches long and 2.375 inches wide. A really nice piece!
