Description: Absolutely gorgeous antique pink / red transferware plate in the "Africana" pattern made by Edward & George Phillips Potteries of Longport England. Dating to the 1830s or so, this 10.5" English pottery plate features a glorious scene of two lions relaxing in a pastoral landscape with a castle like structure in the background. CONDITION: VERY GOOD (Poor-->Fair-->Good-->Very Good-->Excellent-->Mint): Remarkable condition for its age. No chips or cracks, no flea bites, just a few areas of pottery roughness along the rim. There are a few transfer imperfections as shown in the photos. There is a dark spot on one side of the rim. MARKINGS: "Africana" pattern name above E & G P (Edward and George Phillips) MEASUREMENTS: 10.5" in diameter WEIGHT (w/o packaging): 1 lb 4.oz CONDITION CHART: Mint - As new. No visible flaws or wear. All parts/pieces intact. Excellent - Has been used and/or may have very minor noticeable flaws that do not detract from the use or aesthetics of the item. All parts/pieces intact. Very Good - Light wear and/or noticeable flaws that may warrant optional repairs, but can still be used as intended. May be missing parts/pieces, but doesn't impact use.
