Description: Antique 1200s Late-Southern Song Dynasty Chinese Celadon Cow Handle Pedastal Jar Longquan. An absolutely beautiful piece in exceptional condition. The jar has two animal cattle handles typical of the late Song period. The nose of one of the cows appears to have been repaired at some point. The high-points of the animal handles are showing some wear to the glazing. We also see the typical rounding up to a sharp edge at the mouth of the jar, otherwise referred to as a sharp V-edge. The jar shows deep turning line relief across the body of the jar and is coated in a thick celadon glaze inside and outside of the jar. The body of the jar has some iron bleed-through spotting. The inside of the jar is illustrating some wear and darkening of the glaze from use. The underside of the jar is an unglazed red clay pedestal exhibiting swirling at the base. The outer edge of the pedestal is also unglazed and exhibits the typical V-rounding to a sharp edge at the base. Measurements of the jar are illustrated in the photos. Condition is antique pre-owned. Please see photos for condition.
