Description: This antique lighting rod ball is made of thick clear blown glass and dates back to the 1900s. 12.5" around the ball, 4.5" high, very small hole. It features a open hole at the top from having been struck? Or for attaching to a lightning rod. Or the hole could be a unfinished pontil! Rough opening. The craftsmanship and material used suggest it is an original piece from that era. It does sit on table, it spins around, has lots of tiny bubbles. Rounded bottom The clear color of the glass allows for maximum visibility and would have been functional as well as decorative on a historic building.
