Description: This a wonderful Old Zulu Beer Pot Cover or Mbenge from South Africa. Zulu people traditionally drink a fermented beer made from sorghum. It is thin, light brown, sour and much loved. The beer was traditionally made in large clay pots and served in smaller ones once it had fermented. During the brewing process and while serving, they were covered with these woven Mbenge or beer pot covers. The best of these were intricately beaded. This is a delightful 1960s colorful geometric design on a white background. Sometime Plastic colored are glass beads surround the lid.
