Description: The Burlington Gazette, vol,. VIII, #2201, Burlington, NJ, Friday, Oct. 26, 1894. The newspaper is printed on a single sheet of newsprint measuring about 25 3/4" x 18", folded in half to make four pages (sides), each measuring about 13 1/8" x 18". This issue contains two front-page articles relating to race relations and African American history. The second column from the left on the front page contains an informative article called "Colored Industrial Schools - What the State is Doing for the Education of Colored Children." The leftmost column contains a roundup of activity in the Burlington County courts, beginning with an article listing potential jurors for "The trial of Sidney Plummer, the colored man indicted for causing the death of a colored boy in Evesham." Other content includes an installment of a work of fiction entitled Teresa by Captain C.A. Curtis, U.S.A., an editorial discussion of the Burlington County Democratic ticket, and numerous advertisements, including one for Gorton's Minstrels. Condition: The upper left corner of the front page has faded somewhat due to age, but the text remains readable. The paper was folded when originally stored, and contains fold marks. Unless the buyer requests otherwise, it will be mailed folded along the existing marks. There is a slight perforation where the folds meet in the middle of the page. The paper remains flexible and has not become overly brittle with age. The original fold at the spine is not quite even, so the bottom corners don't exactly match. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Our father was a bibliophile who collected rare books, letters, and ephemera for more than 60 years.
