Description: For sale is the most charming and adorable 19th century oil on canvas painting of a cat in a shoe. This image has been captured countless times by many artists. The painting in this style and subject matter is typically referred to as. "Puss in Boots" The painting is oil on canvas and is unframed as we acquired it. There is some pencil inscription on the reverse, which appears to show a name of H .....Reynolds (See pics). Also with a date of "82" ...1882. We are unsure if the name on the reverse is for the artist or for the previous owner. The painting came from a Hudson Valley Victorian home in upstate New York. That is pretty much all we know about its provenance. The painting with one small yet clean tear to the canvas in one old repair down to the corner left face fronting. The painting is dirty with soot and grime over the years. It needs a cleaning to bring out its true colors. Our pictures show the painting in both natural and indoor lighting. In indoor lighting, the painting appears much darker. In outdoor lighting, the painting appears a little bit brighter. The pictures that show brighter coloration are what the painting would look like once cleaned. The small tear in the canvas is it very clean and would cost a minimal price for professional restoration.
