Description: This beautiful 1938 hardcover A Christmas Carol In Prose: Being A Ghost Story of Christmas by Charles Dickens with illustrations by Everett Shinn and Introduction by Lionel Barrymore, actor who portrayed Scrooge in classic motion picture, is in great condition. The pages and spine are intact without staining. There is some wear on the outside cover as pictured. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Everett Shinn (illustrator). Autographed by both Lionel Barrymore and Everett Shinn. Publisher's red cloth over boards with gilt design and title blocks on the front and the spine. Red page edges, Illustrated inside front and rear covers and end pages. This edition was lithographed on Antique paper made particularity for it. The text was set in Estienne type under the supervision of William Edgar Fisher. No DJ as issued. In archival cover. Facsimile signatures below dedication: "To the Memory of Charles Dickens. To Whom each in his separate sphere, two followers dedicate their efforts toward interpreting and perpetuating his great classic, A Christmas Carol, Everett Shinn, Lionel Barrymore." Wonderful two page spread at front and back endpapers of Philadelphia city street scene in the season with what appears to be the back of Scrooge bending into the middle of street players.
